Terms of Service

ECOS is a voice-based storytelling platform that helps you record, preserve, share, and listen back to personal stories in the voices of the people who lived them. Features include voice recording, transcription, family circles for sharing, an automatically compiled Living Biography, and — where you opt in — a voice identity that can narrate written memories.

To use ECOS you must create an account, provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. ECOS is not intended for children under 13.

You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

ECOS offers a free tier and a paid Premium subscription. Prices, features, and included usage are described on our Pricing page.

Billing. Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, according to their standard billing terms. Your payment method is charged when your subscription starts and at each renewal.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, in line with the store's standard rules.

Cancel anytime. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access to Premium features until the end of the period you have already paid for. No further charges will be made after cancellation.

Because subscriptions are sold through Apple and Google, refund requests are handled under their published policies. Please contact Apple Support or Google Play Support for refund requests related to store-billed purchases.

[LEGAL REVIEW] Additional statutory refund rights may apply depending on your country of residence (for example, EU consumer withdrawal rights). Confirm the wording that applies to your jurisdiction.

You own your recordings and your voice model. Voice recordings, transcripts, written memories, photos, and any voice identity generated from your own recordings are your content.

You grant ECOS a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate and improve the service for you and the family members you invite. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to short technical retention windows described in our Privacy Policy.

ECOS does not sell your content, and does not use it to train general-purpose AI models for third parties.

You agree not to use ECOS to:

• Record another person's voice without their informed consent
• Impersonate anyone or misrepresent their words or beliefs
• Upload unlawful, harassing, hateful, or infringing content
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or abuse the service
• Interfere with security or use the service to harm others

You may only record, upload, or generate a voice model of another person if you have their clear, informed consent. If ECOS generates a voice identity from recordings you provide, that voice identity is used only within ECOS features you enable, and it may be deleted on request.

Impersonation of any person is strictly prohibited.

You may stop using ECOS and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, that we are legally required to remove, or that poses a safety risk. Where practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to export your content before deletion.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ECOS disclaims implied warranties, and total liability is limited to the amounts you paid ECOS in the twelve months preceding the claim.

[LEGAL REVIEW] The precise language of warranty disclaimers and liability caps, and any consumer-protection carve-outs that cannot be waived, must be reviewed by counsel for each market where ECOS is offered.

[LEGAL REVIEW] Governing law, venue, and dispute-resolution mechanism (including any arbitration clause and class-action language) must be set by counsel based on the operating entity and the markets served. Do not publish this section without that review.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of ECOS after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
